Your University wants to do all we can to support our staff and students during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
We have created new Maternity Rest Rooms for expectant and new mothers.
We recognise that returning to work after maternity leave, may be the first time you have been separated from your baby for long periods and this can be a difficult time for you and your baby. The rest rooms provided by the University are equipped with the facilities required for expressing milk and rest.
The University also allows additional paid time to use these facilities, subject to line manager’s discretion. We would advise students to contact their programme leader.
In order to use these facilities you must inform your line manager/programme leader that you are pregnant and/or that you will be breastfeeding on your return to work/study. The rooms can then be booked here
Rooms are available on both our main campuses in Sunderland:
Design Centre City Campus Room 210A
Reg Vardy Building St Peter’s Campus Room 406
